Whats the deal with the hotels ?
Ongoing Problem ....
Hotel Problems , Please document and email Legislative Rep Photos are great ...time date and room a must . The bottom line is cost But on the Legislative Side The Direction is Health and Safety .

We had this really Bad driver ...what are my options ?
One instruct the driver to pull over at a safe location and let you out so you can wait for another van , Call the chief ...Get the drivers name and van # .

Some drivers aren't giving up there name ...what do I do ?
Rezenberger Drivers not giving You a Safety Briefing ... Al least their name get the van # the time and the order # if possible . contact the L/R and let the Leg Representative Deal with this .

Weeds in and around Bakersfield Yard office Causing a fire hazard ......in the past the Co. has expressed that these are not a hazard for employees . have reported in the past and will take photo's of area and send on to Those responsible .

HOTEL COMPLAINTS ....General consensus is hotel ECONOLODGE is nicer and trying to make improvements and work with us in order to keep us there . Millie's is closed ...looking into alternate places to eat after hours or other means of transportation.

DAYS INN GLENDALE

NEED COMPLAINTS IN WRITING
such as : rm # too much daylight could not sleep and get my rest .  to much noise from elevator . too much noise from ice machine, maids , patrons, etc .
Stuck in Smoking Room or Room that has mildew smell not maintained or on first floor with noise from parking lot .  We need these written complaints Please !!!

Mile Posts and Crossing Boards still a problem ....Please report all missing , obscured or tagged to the safety hotline or to the L/R for immediate handling . With a new batch of engineers coming up and new conductors soon these are a critical tool that must be maintained ,

Trains over 8000 ft are a CSLB concern also the none controlling DPU trailing without a Tele . These are not requirements or rules presently but we are attempting to correct these issues .




Slow order 323.85 more permanent than temporary . train handling issues and lost com on some DPUS . 
Quoted response " This stretch of track is slow ordered for critical geometry defects due to mud spots in concrete tied track, and a profile depression within a road crossing. We plan to have a road closure set up with Kern County and the proper maintenance equipment on site in a ball park time frame of a month. There will be no removal of this slow order until this time. Per MRO , I am not aware of any train handling or comm loss issues at this location. It is a completely open area, meaning no hills, structures or any type of interferences that would normally cause a DPU comm loss. This is a steady descending grade and straight track with no changes for 4 miles prior to the where the slow order is.

TRAINING ???
We have personnel that have not been out of the engineers seat for 7 years that have never received a conductors class and are unfamiliar with the requirements of the job . Ie filling out conductors report logs . actually doing a walking inspection of equipment , Filling out the GUI . Not to mention These Junior Engineers are not familiar with Locals and the territory . Industry locations and job specific information .

  . These Employees need protected with education and training trips and not Intimidation, Stress and Discipline . 

  We Want training for these guys ....the Company does this in January then the individual is covered but now its sink or swim ..here's the rule book , train yourself !!! Not sure if the other Railroads are doing the very same thing .This is a definite Violation of decency and respect for human life . Not only put a guy on the ground that probably looks like me but the added stress on not being familiar with the recent changes to aspects of the job .  There our members out here that have never had a Conductors Class .

Should it not be the obligation of the Carrier To insure that their employees receive a adequate time and amount of training when being placed from one position to another  ?

4. As for the Safety Hotline item you called in. The cut back Engineers need to ask for help. At that point I will review their work history along with their assigned manger and go from there.

When the L/R makes a road trip do we have to pay for this ???
Not a dime ...inspection trips are on The L/R and any requested activities from
The State Chairman are Compensated By the State Board .

Why does the L/R email all the time ...We never had this before ?

This is because the current L/R believes that information should be free flowing and that The only secrets should be those discussed CLOSED DOOR meetings .
This is only the L/R's opinion .
If you do not want to receive any emails from the L/R just ask to be removed If you want to receive news just ask ....That Simple !

Bakersfield Depot's ceiling missing tile ...roof leaks .... Moldy Mildew odor coming from
Women's Restroom area .
Have taken step to correct the following and Management responded that the Womens bathroom will be taken out of service , Ceiling tiles to be replaced , mold not a health issue .
Anyone suffering from allergies entering the Building are encouraged to report it to
The L/R Asap !

I've noticed people laid off union a lot lately What exactly is the deal with that ?
Union Business is Just that Union Business . Weather working on claims, mileage, Website ,
research, It is the same as laying off sick ...NON COMPENSATED !!!

What is the Deal with the Camera's in the Rezenbergers....Isn't it a saftey issue as a distraction to the Rezenberger drivers ? Why is it pointed at the drivers ?

The issue of inward facing cameras mounted on windshields of contract vans are allowed according to the California State Vehicle Code Section 26708 (b) (13) (A):  In short it is allowed by state law.  The only restriction is that it take up no more than an area of 5 square inches if mounted near the rear view mirror; 5 square inches if mounted to the lower left of windshield; and 7 square inches if mounted on the lower right of the windshield.  This is a new law!

Additionally, there has to be a readily visible sticker indicating that this camera exists within the vehicle per Section 26708 (a) (13)(B).  If not, the contract van company is in violation.  Please report to this office ASAP.

Also, the locomotives issue is still being adjudicated in court.  We lost one decision where we challenged the installation in the Metrolink cabs, however we still have another challenge left.  I will keep you apprised.  Any questions, please advise!  Thanks...

Yes but very difficult ....Best to just ask to step down , but make sure You have a replacement in mind . Many offices have more to them than  meets the Eye .
