John F. Mc AmisJohn F. Mc Amis, 51, lived and passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, December 27, 2011, in Fresno. He was born and raised in Salinas. John was a Locomotive Engineer for the Union Pacific Railroad in Fresno. Prior to that he was a Conductor for the Southern Pacific Railroad. He belonged to the Brotherhood Locomotive Engineers Union. He drove the train up and down Central and Southern/Northern California, with stories of what he saw with his eyes enjoying the country side that many do not have the opportunity in their lifetime to experience. John loved to fish, BBQ, collect and trade baseball cards. He was a huge fan of the SF Giants and enjoyed the outdoors. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and close friends. He was a very kind hearted, generous man. He was always laughing and joking around. John was a great brother, brother in-law, uncle and a friend that a friend would like to have. His co-worker and friend, Brian stated "John was one of the the best engineer's that Union Pacific Railroad ever had". John would have replied "not a big deal, I just drive a train".With an extreme heavy heart, we say "God rest you and peace be with you John". He was preceded in death by: his mother, Vickie Hansen and father, Danny Mc Amis. Survivors: Sister, Carrie (Ron) Piearcy; nephew, Christopher Piearcy; niece, Cassie Piearcy; aunts, uncles and cousins.Private arrangements have been made by the immediate family.A Celebration of Life will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, January 7, 2012 at Portobello's Restaurant in Salinas.
